Different Forms of Roulette – French, Mini, American, European

There are two main types of roulette wheels, the European wheel and the American roulette wheel. The European Wheel is also known as a single zero roulette and has some similarity with the American version. They differ in the number of slots to place your bets on, the rules surrounding your bets, the game play and the payouts.  You also get other versions of roulette like French roulette and Mini roulette.

At the beginning of the game you will see a roulette wheel with alternate slots of black and red, except for the double zero slot in American roulette and the zero slot, which you will find in the European Roulette, French and mini Roulette boards.  The roulette table has thirty six numbers split into 3 columns of 12 numbers each, except for mini roulette which only has 13 numbers.

Different Forms of Roulette: French Roulette

Instead of just American roulette or perhaps European roulette, you should definitely give French roulette a go.  This means that if you’re really into playing roulette you can try all the different variations until you find one that takes your fancy.

French roulette is a bit like the European & American versions you’ll find online. French roulette also has a single zero and the table numbers appear in red. An interesting addition to French roulette is the La Partage rule.  If you try French roulette, you should use this as it can increase your chances of winning.

Different Forms of Roulette: Mini Roulette

Mini roulette is a roulette game with a quicker pace as the table only has thirteen numbers.  On the bright side, you will only have to make fifteen bets to cover all the bets on the table!  Mini roulette is a fun version of roulette and a good choice if you only have a couple of minutes to spare.  Note that although most roulette games will have a similar appearance, they all have different rules and bets, so make sure to read the instructions before trying out a new variety.

Different forms of Roulette: American Roulette

The American roulette table has a zero and a double zero, while other games only have one zero slot.  You will notice on the table that the numbers are in pairs and that they appear right opposite each other.  On the European wheel the numbers are randomized, which actually increase your chances of winning.  Make sure that you check out European roulette first before you try American as it does have better odds.

Different Forms of Roulette: European Roulette

The European roulette wheel has a classic feel and it is prettier than the standard American version.  This game has a house edge of 2.63 %, almost HALF of what the average American roulette wheel has on offer (5.26%).  It is difficult to find these wheels at land based casinos but luckily online casinos are more willing to offer this game because they have lower overhead costs.  The reason this game has better winning odds is because it has only one zero slot and no double zero slot, which increases your chance of winning.
