The D’Alembert Roulette Betting System

Another popular roulette system is the d’Alembert system. This system assumes that after a win, a player is less likely to win again.  So after a win, you subtract a chip from your bet. The d’Alembert system also assumes that you’ll be less likely to lose after a losing spin, so in that case, you add a chip to your bet. The flaw in this theory is that the roulette wheel has no memory, and each spin is an independent trial with exactly the same odds of a win or loss as the previous spin.

There are of course many roulette betting systems out there but once you get to know them, you’ll realize that they’re mostly just variations of the same thing.  These betting systems have been around since the ancient times but none of them can guarantee to increase your chances of winning.  Roulette is a game of chance and it will stay that way, no matter what betting system you use.

The D’Alembert Roulette Betting System: How it Works

Jean Le Rond d’ Alembert created the D’Alembert roulette betting system.  The system is a little bit like the Martingale roulette betting system but there is different logic is applied to it.

While using the D’Alembert roulette betting system you also bet less or more dependent or whether you have one or lost the last bet.  You reduce your wager if you have won your last one and you increase your bet if you have lost the last round.  This way you bet less when you win as you can keep your winnings aside and you bet more when you lose so you can try and make up for your losses.

The logic that it uses is that you are less likely to win or lose two round in a row, so if you bet less when you win your won’t lose too much on the next round, and if you bet more when you win, your next win will make up for the money you lost on your previous bet.  Mr. d’Alembert created this system because he believes that “nature seeks equilibrium”.

The D’Alembert Roulette Betting System: Why it’s Not Perfect

From what we have covered already, it’s plain to see that D’Alembert roulette betting system is a bit flawed.  Let’s look at why that is.  The main reason is that roulette is a game of chance and that every spin is totally independent of the others.  This system makes us believe that the next spin will be influenced by the current spin and that is simply not the case.

Whether you choose the right color or number or combination for a few spins in a row will not influence whether you can do it in the next round.  Having said that, although we are not of the opinion that the D’Alembert roulette betting system will necessarily help you win, it will also not necessarily make you lose.  Play around with it and see if you like the outcome.
